"Wait, isn't this a fashion blog? Why are you talking about music?"
Because I really don't have much to write about this week. Also, the amount of incredible new music coming out is literally making me sick from excitement. Here's some albums I've been listening to lately.
Lido - Everything
Norwegian wonder producer Lido just released his debut album titled "Everything". Having produced for Kanye and lots of other artists, Lido is finally emerging into the spotlight. "Everything" deals with the aftermath of a break up. This idea is never stated but you can tell just by the emotion and feeling Lido portrays through his production, lyrics and overall sound. It's pained, confused and dark, but also beautiful. Top tier dreamy, electronic production, and some killer guest verses from rappers like Vic Mensa and Jaden Smith. Definitely recommend this one.
Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
Oh, where to begin? "Danny Brown is an acquired taste." I tell people that when they tell me he sucks because they can't get over his unique vocal twangs and twisted, dark rap style. I don't agree with them at all. I feel bad for people who haven't discovered the genius of this 35 year old rapper from Detroit. Danny Brown is an incredible artist and this latest album only helps to cement that. Dealing with his vices of drug addiction, unprotected sex and manic depression, "Atrocity Exhibition" is Danny at his most exposed. His style is unlike ANYTHING else in the rap game. Period. Listen to this album.
De La Soul - and the Anonymous Nobody
Long Island hip-hop trio De La Soul is back with their first album in twelve years. These guys made huge waves in the music industry with their first few projects, catching ears with their eclectic, energetic rapping style and expert sampling. They've sort of moved away from their fun, bouncy style in favor of a very laid back, chill album experience which long time fans didn't really appreciate (I really dig it though).
That's only a tiny fraction of what I've been into lately. I'm always listening to new music so listing it all would be a little crazy.
Some other stuff:
Frank Ocean - Blonde
The Weeknd - (pretty much his entire discography on repeat, he's my favorite artist :o)
JMSN - It Is.
Isaiah Rashad - The Sun's Tirade
